Summer Enrichment Programs

At this time of year, colleges begin promoting summer institutes and camps. These summer experiences are a great opportunity for students to learn in another setting, build skills, explore interests and experience life on a college campus. There are many offerings locally and throughout the country. Students are encouraged to visit their academic counselor or search online in academic and artistic interest area. Here is a sampling of available programs:

UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA

The College of Medicine offers a 10-week summer program for undergraduates.  In addition, there is a 6-week Med-Start summer program for rising seniors. Please visit the link for more information:

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA

Open to any high school student who has successfully passed the UAEC 200: College Readiness Course and is in good academic standing.

MIAMI UNIVERSITY

Rising juniors and seniors can get an insider's look at the college application process and attend sessions on developing leadership skills. Limited scholarships are available.  Transcripts, test scores and a letter of recommendation are required for admittance. UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

Cornerstone Summer Institute offers a week-long summer camp at the University of Virginia. Students will learn about slavery and its legacies by exploring the University, Charlottesville and area landmarks.  The camp is open to rising sophomore, juniors and seniors.  Applications now being accepted. Oxbridge Academic Programs offer two or four-week programs. College credit can be earned for certain programs. 200 courses are available and locations include the USA, England, France, and Spain. USC 2019 SUMMER PROGRAMS

Summer programs for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors are available. They offer 2 and 4-week programs. Visit:summer.usc.edu to choose from over 20 courses in multiple disciplines.  Applications are now open.

 

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI

Summer Scholars Program now available from July 6-July 26, 2019 for rising juniors and seniors. For more information, e-mail the summer school admissions office at ssp@miami.edu. Students must apply by March 1 for scholarship consideration

 

DUKE SUMMER SESSION

Summer Session 2019 offers three transformative programs next summer:  Summer College, Summer Academy, and Accelerated STEM Academy. For more information e-mail:  summercollege@duke.edu

UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA

The New Start Summer Program is a 6 -week introduction to U of A for incoming freshmen. It takes place from June 15-July 26, 2019. Summer study abroad and pre-college programs for American and International students are available!

A premier, private research university offers summer opportunities for rising juniors and seniors. The admissions process is selective and based on a number of factors including academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and recommendation letters.
