Navarro To Lead NDP Boys Soccer

Notre Dame Preparatory High School Athletic Director Mark Cisterna has announced the hiring of Mike Navarro for the position of Head Boys Soccer Coach.

"We are excited about the hiring of Coach Navarro," Cisterna said. "He does a great job at Ottawa University which will help him lead this program effectively."

Navarro, 30, spent four seasons as head boys' varsity coach at Estrella Foothills High School as well as serving as an assistant coach at Ottawa University, where he will continue to coach. "He is a great hire for this program as he has a great deal of experience as a head coach, and he knows what needs to be done to put Saints soccer on the map," Cisterna added. He has taken the Estrella Foothills team to the playoffs two of the four years as coach.

Being a part of the NDP family is important to Navarro, who grew up in a Catholic family. "I feel very lucky that I will be coaching at one of the best private high schools in the state," he said. "Notre Dame Prep has a great athletic program, and I'm excited to be a part of it."

Navarro will assume his duties in June as the Saints boys soccer team commences its offseason weight-training program. "I want to start building team chemistry now. Soccer is a short season, so we need to bond and train prior to the start of the winter season," Navarro said.
