Notre Dame Prep sophomore Mason Quagliata placed first in the boys 13 to 15 year-old category in the 2016-17 Drive, Chip and Putt Regional Competition at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA on Sept. 24.
The competition is a joint event put on by The Masters, United States Golf Association, and The PGA. It focuses on the three fundamental skills employed in golf.
For winning, Qaugliata will get to compete at the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club on April 2, 2017, the Sunday before The Masters golf tournament begins. The Drive, Chip and Putt finals will be televised on the Golf Channel.
"I am extremely excited, because Augusta is one of the nicest courses in the country and so much history has happened there," Quagliata, 15, said. "I'm also excited because next year I will be too old to compete so I wouldn't have another chance."
