The Apollo Hawks defeated the Notre Dame Prep Saints 5-4 on Wednesday. Notre Dame struck first in the top of the first inning with a Tyler Cranston leadoff triple followed by a Matthew Metz RBI single. Apollo tied it up in the bottom of the first with a Brett Aker double and he eventually scored on a groundout. The Saints added a run in the third inning on a Nick O'Brien single and another run in the 5th inning on a single by Nathan Pierce to go up 3-1. Apollo struck for 4 runs in the 6th capped by a Nick Groft double. Notre Dame scored 1 run in the 7th, but Aker earned the save inducing a groundout with the bases loaded to end the game. Fritz Schober led the Hawks with two hits and Cranston, Pierce, O'Brien and Landon Goldberg each had two hits for the Saints in a losing effort.
