Vincent Elrod Earns Arizona All-American for Football, Academics

Notre Dame Prep defensive linebacker Vincent Elrod was named an Arizona All-American by The Arizona High School Coaches Association, American Leadership Academy and United Dairymen of Arizona.

Elrod received this award at the American Leadership Academy banquet on Jan. 27.

NDP Head Football Coach George Prelock, along with others, nominated Elrod based on his athletic ability, high GPA, numerous hours of Christian service, leadership on and off of the football field, school involvement and citizenship.

"I really love serving meals to the homeless at Andre House and volunteering at Miracle League," Elrod said. "Volunteering makes me very thankful for my own situation and having a supportive family."

Other criteria used in the selection process includes national recognition, state awards, regional awards and school team awards. Other accolades Elrod has earned include, All Gridiron AZ Team linebacker, First Team All Region, All State Award, 2017 All Academic football team, he led NDP in tackles his junior and senior years, Defensive MVP of NDP football team.

"I just want to thank Coach Prelock for nominating me and my parents for all their support," Elrod said. "Oh! and my little brother who came to all my games."

In addition to school, football and volunteering, Elrod is a member of NDP's Business Club, Club USA and National Honor Society. Next year, Elrod will either attend school at the University of San Diego or Stanford University.
