The Notre Dame Preparatory boys’ and girls’ varsity soccer teams advanced to the Arizona Interscholastic Association 4A State Championship games on Tuesday at Williams Field High School. The top-seeded girls’ team will play No. 7 Salpointe at 4:45 p.m., while No. 4 seeded boys play No. 2 Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m.

The 4A State Champion Notre Dame Prep volleyball team was recognized with several honors following the championship season. Senior McKenna Douglas and sophomore Evam Hendrix were named to the All-Arizona team selected by the Arizona Republic, while Hendrix was chosen to the MaxPrep UnderClass All-America second team.

The No. 7 seeded Notre Dame Prep varsity football team lost in the AIA 5A State Quarterfinals 45-42 at No. 2 Salpointe Friday night. Senior Gavin Smith had four touchdowns for the Saints including a 100-yard kickoff return. Led by the efforts of Smith, the Saints overcame a 24-7 deficit at halftime, but the second half comeback came up short.
Senior Brock Narveson was named the 5A San Tan Region Defensive Player of the Year among 16 accolades for the Saints team as selected by the region coaches.
The Notre Dame Prep athletics department will be offering season and single-game tickets for the 2021-22 Boys Basketball seasons. One ticket is good for all three levels for the exciting nine-game home schedule.
The Notre Dame Prep volleyball team had eight players named to the 4A West Valley All-Region teams on Thursday and swept the Player and Coach of the Year honors for the region.

The Notre Dame Prep volleyball team won the AIA 4A State Championship on Saturday. The Saints fought hard and were able to claim a 3-0 victory over Canyon del Oro High School at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. It is the third volleyball state championship in school history (2007, 2015). The Saints finished the season undefeated at 21-0 in 4A play and with a 37-5 overall record.
The Notre Dame Prep cross teams completed their historic season with the girls placing 16th and boys finishing 17th at the AIA Division III Cross Country Championships held at Cave Creek Golf Course. It was the first time in school history both teams advanced to the state championships in the same season.

The Notre Dame Prep swimming and diving team qualified 18 participants for the AIA Division III State Championships this weekend. Diving will be contested at Brophy Prep on Thursday (prelims) and Friday (finals), while the swimming will be contested at Phoenix Country Day.
The Notre Dame Prep cross country program had a great day at the AIA Division III Metro Section meet at Cesar Chavez Park on Tuesday. The girls finished second and boys placed third as both teams qualified for the AIA DIII State Championships on Nov. 13.
Notre Dame Prep senior pitcher Chris Gaudio has committed to play baseball at Division I Santa Clara University and will sign with the Broncos program on Nov. 10.

The Notre Dame Preparatory Athletics department will host a celebration for National Letter of Intent Signing Day on Wednesday, November 10. The event will be on campus at 11:30 a.m. in the Jensen Gym.
Junior Charlotte Kim posted a two-over par 73 that featured three birdies and 11 pars over the Omni Tucson National Golf course layout to finish 23rd overall. With her first round 79, she finished the two-day tournament at 152.
Sophomore Jackson McLaughlin tied for first at the Brophy Aguila Open last week and hopes to continue the positive vibes this week as the team tees it up at the AIA Division II State Championship at Tucson National Golf Course.
The Notre Dame Prep Girls Golf team is in ninth place after the first round of the AIA DII Girls State Golf Championships at the Tucson National Golf Course. The Saints shot a 347 to stand eight strokes back of eighth-place Desert Mountain (339) in the team standings.
The Notre Dame Prep swimming and diving teams participated at the Small Schools Championship at Phoenix Country Day High School Saturday, Oct. 23. The girls team placed second overall in the standings behind host Phoenix Country Day School, while the boys team finished 17th. The teams combined for 12 individual and relay top-10 finishes.
The Notre Dame Prep football team won its fourth consecutive game with a 49-0 victory over Maricopa High School on Thursday night. The game was featured on the Epic Sports Thursday Night Game of the Week broadcast. NDP improved to 5-2 on the season.

The Souper Bowl food drive coordinated by Notre Dame Prep senior Wyatt Harris produced more than 1,800 pounds of food for the Saint Mary’s Food Bank. The donations translated to 1,510 meals created by the Food Bank.
Notre Dame Prep hosts Campo Verde for Homecoming with special presentations at halftime including meeting the Homecoming court, performances by the Pom and Cheer squads and introducing members of the 2020 Forever Saints Hall of Fame class.
Former Notre Dame Prep baseball player Peter Bourjos ’05 will be inducted into the school’s Forever Saints Alumni Hall of Fame on Friday as part of the weekend Homecoming festivities. Bourjos joins a distinguished group of former students and faculty selected for the inaugural Hall of Fame class that was originally selected in 2020.

The Notre Dame Prep boys golf team finished second at the Ridge Invitational on Saturday, posting the second-best round on the day at 311 to move up into runner-up finish and top finish among Division II teams. Liberty won the team title at 588 after rounds of 295-292.

Football Falls to Brophy in Holy Bowl
The Notre Dame Prep swimming and diving team remained undefeated in dual meets with a sweep of Sunrise Mountain (94-89), Paradise Valley (130-53) and Payson (137-4) on Thursday. The team is 7-0 on the season.
Tickets will be required for Sunday’s anticipated Notre Dame Prep hockey game against Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. at the Ice Den Scottsdale.

The Notre Dame Prep girls swimming and diving team posted a 124-52 victory over Mesquite at the McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center Thursday. The Saints won 11 events on the afternoon in the victory.
Sophomore Jack Taylor shot a one-under par 35 to win medalist honors and lead the Notre Dame Prep boys golf team to victory over Saguaro and Higley on Thursday. The Saints posted a 154 team score to win by eight over Saguaro (162) and Higley (166).

Senior Andrew Vines scored three touchdowns and added a field goal and three PATs to help Notre Dame Prep post a 30-28 victory over Corona del Sol Friday night for the first win of the season.

The Notre Dame Prep Boys Basketball program will have open gym opportunities Sept. 16, 28 and 30 from 2:50-4:00 p.m. in the gym. Please bring a water bottle and basketball shoes. The open gym is open to all boys interested in trying out for the basketball program who are not currently competing in a fall sport.
Sophomore Evan Hendrix was named the Arizona MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week by the organizations on Wednesday. She was one of 43 student-athletes honored by America’s source for high school sports and the leading volleyball organization for their performances during the week of August 30-September 5.
Senior McKenna Douglas was named to the MaxPreps Preseason All-America second team. This is a national award as she was among one of 52 players in the nation to earn preseason accolades.
The Notre Dame Prep cross country team posted 13 personal bests and six season bests at the Chandler Invitational Saturday morning at Tumbleweed Park. The Saints competed in individual races by gender and class.
The Notre Dame Prep volleyball team went undefeated and dropped just a single set (14-1) in winning the House of Payne Invitational on Saturday.

The Notre Dame Prep Athletics will be offering season and single-game tickets for the 2021 Volleyball season.
Notre Dame Prep senior Wyatt Harris has created a citywide food drive to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank and is inviting Phoenix area high school and youth football teams to participate. Teams will collect canned food and donations at a home game over the first month of the season with the top three teams by weight getting a cash donation to their football program.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - If you are a freshman girl and you are interested in playing tennis this fall, please plan on attending a brief meeting after school Tuesday, August 18th in the COMM. As a freshman you are able to compete in tennis in both the fall and the spring. If you have any questions or are unable to attend the meeting for any reason, please see Coach Dinges in her office in the COMM.

The Notre Dame Prep football team will play in the Gotta Believe Athletic Club High School Championships at Fear Farm this Saturday.
The Notre Dame Prep girls lacrosse team placed four student-athlete on Arizona Girls Lacrosse Association Division I All-State team. The Saints are represented by senior Sienna Duffill at midfield, juniors Acacia Connor at midfield and Angelina Hook on defense and freshman Jacinda Connor at attack.
Senior Brooke Belitz was named to the Arizona Tennis Coaches Association All-State First Team. Belitz led the Saints to the AIA 4A Quarterfinals and reached the 4A Division II Single Championship.
The Notre Dame Prep baseball team placed 10 players on the 4A West Valley All-Region teams including five first-team selections. Head Coach Brian Fischer was named the Region Coach of the Year and Maguire Peterson was the Defensive Player of the Year.

Junior John Ruvo ran a blistering 10.69 personal-best and school record in the finals of the 100 meters at the AIA Division III State Track and Field Championships to highlight a memorable night at Desert Vista High School. He finished the meet by posting his second personal-best of the night, clocking a 21.87 in the 200 meters to place third overall by five thousandths of a second in a virtual dead heat.

Max Zdimal is a senior on the Notre Dame Prep baseball team. He has made a commitment to play baseball and attend Princeton University in the fall. He has an older brother who plays baseball at Bentley. He is involved in NHS, serves as a house captain for St. Michael and an Ambassador.

Elsa Davis has been a four-year member of the soccer program. After earning Impact Player of the Year as a freshman, she has been a two-time 5A All-Northeast Valley Region selection at defender. She has two younger sisters, including Laurel, who is a member of the JV team. She plays electrical and classical guitar in her free time and has traveled to 25 countries.
Connor McNeill has played in the basketball program for the last three seasons after serving as a manager as a freshman. He has two younger siblings, one brother and one sister. He will attend the University of Arizona on the fall and major in business.

Izzy de Avila (Day Ah-vela) is the top returning scorer for the Saints and one of the team captains this season. She was the Region Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 and was named to the 5A All-Conference first team. She is a House Captain for Saint Valentine, serves as an Ambassador and recently joined Hope Kids Club. She is undecided on college but is looking at the Division III Catholic University of America.

The AHSHA and Ice Den will only be allowing two parents per player with wristbands and no students or general public will be allowed.
Needing just one point, it was a perfect that Notre Dame Pre senior Alivia Pautz was sent to the charity stripe early in the first quarter against Saguaro to help her reach the 1,000-point milestone after entering the game with 999 career points in her four-year career at Notre Dame Prep. Pautz missed the first attempt but the second was good to hit 1,000 on the mark and Saguaro AD Matt Harris stopped the game to recognize the achievement.
Sophomore Quinn Galvin knocked in the game winner on a header as Notre Dame Prep handed Arizona Republic sixth-ranked Saguaro Super 10 team a 1-0 loss Thursday at Bemis Field.

The All-Star Saints include forwards freshman Carson Curry, freshman Reed Gramlich, defenders sophomore Evan Kobley and sophomore Connor White and goalie freshman Mathew Gahan.
Ben Stafford is in his second season on the varsity team. He is one of three brothers to attend NDP including Jackson ‘20, who played baseball, and his younger brother, Nicholas ‘23 on the JV team. Senior Aiden Mickey recorded a hat trick Friday night against Chaparral in a 7-0 win by the Saints that was part of a 3-0 weekend for the D1 program including wins over Hamilton and Desert Vista. The D3 team won its lone match 4-1 over Pinnacle.
Junior Peyton Layne scored off a cross from senior Izzy de Avila late in the second overtime to propel the Saints to a 2-1 victory over Deer Valley. Freshman Chloe Grindall provided the overtime opportunity with a second half goal to tie the game for her first high school goal.
Maya Ford is in her second season at NDP after moving to Arizona from New Jersey. She suffered a stress fracture last season that limited her to the late season and playoffs. Maya also competes on the track and field team (triple, high and long jumps, 100 meters). She is a member of NHS and the Spanish National Honor Society and was the schools female nominee for the NIAAA Scholar Athlete Award.

She has seen action in all four games with single-game season-highs of six points and eight rebounds. She is planning on attending Arizona State University and pursue a degree in Nursing or English. She is a member of the Diversity club and enjoys singing and playing instruments.

The AIA’s Executive Board voted to begin winter sports next week with new modifications requiring all students, coaches and officials to wear a mask for the entirety of competitions and practices. The vote came after winter sports were halted by the group last Friday.

Alexa is in her second season on the varsity team. She likes to play the guitar in her free time.
