Frequently Asked Questions

Due to there being over 1,000 students that attend NDP, having your Christian Service Hours approved can take some time. Before they can be approved by the Center of Mission and Ministry Staff, they first need to be verified by your supervisor.

You can keep track if your supervisor has verified the hours based on the color of the envelope next to your service hour submission.

A gray envelope (pictured below) shows that the supervisor's name and email have been submitted, but they have not verified them yet. Therefore, the hours cannot be approved yet by the Center of Mission and Ministry Staff.

A blue envelope (pictured below) means that the supervisor has verified your hours, and your hours are waiting to be approved by the Center of Mission and Ministry Staff. The submission logs are monitored and approved daily, so we ask for patience.

A yellow envelope (pictured below) means that the email for your supervisor has bounced and your submission needs to be edited. To edit your Christian Service Hour entry properly, please see the FAQ below.

A red envelope (pictured below) means that your supervisor has rejected your hours, and your submission needs to be edited. They may have also left you a comment when you click on your submission. To edit your Christian Service Hour entry properly, please see the FAQ below.

While there are many reasons and different scenarios for supervisors to reject Christian Service Hours, there are frequent ones. Those include submitting the wrong number of hours, submitting them for the wrong date, and not signing into the organization’s system, resulting in them not being able to verify you.

If your Christian Service Hours get rejected for these reasons, or similar ones, it is important that you read the comment they have left, edit the submission appropriately and resubmit.

While there are many reasons and different scenarios for the Center of Mission and Ministry Staff to reject Christian Service Hours, there are frequent ones. Those include those that are stated in the NDP Handbook, including, having a supervisor that is parent, family member or friend verify your Christian Service Hours, not answering the prompt in at least 150 words or answering the prompt relating your Christian Service to a Catholic Social Teaching and a Corporal or Spiritual Work of Mercy.

If your Christian Service Hours get rejected for these reasons, or similar ones, it is important that you read the comment they have left, edit the submission appropriately and resubmit.

You can tell if your Christian Service Hours have been approved or rejected based on the "green checkmark" or "red X" under the "Status" column (see below):

If you can edit the submission based on the comment left, click on the submission and then click on the pencil in the top right corner.

This will take you through all the steps to resubmit your entry. Once you have resubmitted, please email Mr. Aleksa at maleksa@ndpsaints.org.

Common activities that will not be approved:

-          Babysitting, dog sitting, cleaning yards or cars, picking up trash in personal neighborhoods, and being a teacher's assistant.

-          Simply attending events like plays or games, NDP or otherwise

-          Tutoring can only be approved if it is done through NDP’s NHS.

Activities that require students to fill out an additional form:

-          Assisting the elderly or family friends

Partaking in a nonprofit organization does not automatically guarantee the student's participation toward their Chrisitan Service hour goal. Examples like running in a charity race or being a part of a competitive sport that is a nonprofit name do not qualify. If the student is unsure whether their variation of participation may qualify, they should contact the COMM staff. Additional details can also be found in the NDP Handbook.
