KNOWING WHERE OUR STUDENTS ARE
At Notre Dame Prep, the safety and well-being of every student is our highest priority. We ask parents and guardians to notify the school whenever a student will be absent, arrive late, or leave campus early. Keeping us informed ensures we know your child is safe, helps us account for every student during the school day, and allows us to provide the support they need to stay on track academically.
Regular attendance is an important part of student success, and Arizona law requires students to attend school consistently throughout the year. When you communicate with us about your child's attendance, you help us maintain a safe learning environment, meet state attendance requirements, and work together to support your child's educational journey.

excused
absence
When NDP is notified that a student will not be on campus that day via the Attendance form and it is submitted by 8:20 a.m., the student receives an excused absence. When an absence is excused, students can make up the work they missed in class.
late
arrival
An Attendance Form must be submitted at least one hour before late arrival. Student arriving after 8 a.m. must report to the SWEEP ROOM in the CAFE building, unless they have a doctor's/dentist's note.
early release
Early release requires a parent or legal guardian to complete and submit the online attendance form. The form must be received no later than 1:55 p.m. Requests for dismissal between 2 and 2:30 p.m. will not be processed. Early release after 2 p.m. must be approved by an assistant principal.
unexcused
absence
An Attendance Form must be submitted by 8:20 a.m. Absences not recorded with the form are considered unexcused absences and cannot make up missed work. An unexcused absence counts toward a student's maximum of five (5) absences per class, per semester.
prearranged
absence
If you know your student will miss school for any reason, parents must fill out the Attendance Form at least two school days before the student's absence.
at school illness
An Attendance Form is not required when your student becomes ill at school. Students must go to the Nurse's Office to be released. Students should not call their parents to come to school and pick them up; only the nurse is permitted to make arrangements. Students may not participate in or attend any after-school activities if they are sent home sick.
ndP sponsored activity
An Attendance Form is not required when a student is absent for a school sponsored activity. The department sponsoring the activity informs the attendance office the day before the event. This is an excused absence and the attendance record is marked EVENT.
Mandatory
mass
Liturgies are an important part of life at Notre Dame Preparatory and a requirement for all students. Absences from Mass are rarely approved. In dire circumstances, requests must be made directly to the principal.
college visits
Only juniors and seniors are allowed two (2) yearly college or university visits without impacting their attendance record. NDP must be notified of the college visit at least one week in advance. This form must be signed by a college official; otherwise, the absence is unexcused. The form must be signed by college officials and turned into the Attendance Office 48 hours after the visit. Students must make up class assignments.
NOTE TO PARENTS
- If someone other than a parent or guardian is picking up a student early, the school must have that person's name listed as an emergency contact or have written permission from the parent or guardian. This applies even if the person is a relative.
- Attendance Forms must be completed by a parent or guardian only, and it must be sent from that student's parent or guardian's email address that is on file with NDP through PowerSchool.
- An 18 year-old students may NOT complete the Attendance Form.
