Notre Dame Prep athletic director Jason Levine is pleased to announce the hiring of Jon Van Assche as our new boys tennis head coach.
Coach Van Assche began playing tennis at the age of five and was coached by Marc Gelina who also coached Aaron Krickstein, the #6 player in the world at that time.
Coach Van Assche played #1 singles at Grosse Pointe North High School in Michigan and won the MAC championship in singles. He later earned a tennis scholarship to Ferris State University, also in Michigan.
After college, Van Assche moved to Arizona and became the head tennis pro at La Camarilla Racquet Club where he taught for many years. He was also captain of a Premier League team and won four championships.
With vast experience coaching students of all ages for twenty years, Coach Van Assche brings a wealth of expertise to NDP. Some of his students have reached the ATP tour. He is USPTA verified Pro 1 and certified through the International Fitness Professionals Association.
"Coach Jon is excited to see what new heights our NDP Boys tennis program can reach and we are blessed to have him join our coaching staff," Levine said.
