Volleyball’s Douglas, Hendrix, McLean Earn All-Region Accolades

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Notre Dame Prep volleyball team had eight players named to the 4A West Valley All-Region teams on Thursday and swept the Player and Coach of the Year honors for the region.

Senior libero McKenna Douglas was named the Player of the Year for the 4A West Valley Region and Defensive Player of the Year, while sophomore outside hitter Evan Hendrix was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year. Head Coach Holly McLean was the Region Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The Saints had four players named to the first team including Douglas and Hendrix, who earned the honor for the second consecutive seasons. Setter Ashleigh Bolton and outside hitter Sophia Garrow Ross earned their first career all-region first team nods.

Hendrix ranked second in the state and led the 4A Conference in kills (626) and was third in the state in kills per set (5.9) while hitting .394 for the season. She led the team in service aces (71) and ranked second in digs (283). Douglas ranked sixth in the 4A Conference in digs per set at 4.8 while recording 307 digs. She also had 47 aces to rank third on the team. She eclipsed the 1000-dig milestone during her senior season.

Bolton recorded 815 assists to lead the team and rank 12th in the state. She averaged 8.6 assists per set, the fourth-best mark in the conference and tops in the region. Garrow Ross was second on the team in kills and seventh in the 4A (319) and ranked third on the team in digs (178).

Senior Kathy Malloy was named to the all-region second team. She ranked third on the team in kills with 157.

Junior Kennedy Graninger, junior Alexis Yoza and junior Ally Alessio were named to the all-region honorable mention team. It was the third honor for Alessio, second for Graninger and first for Yoza.

The Saints won the AIA 4A State and 4A West Region titles.
