SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Notre Dame Prep volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over No. 4 seed Seton Catholic by scores of 25-9, 25-22 25-18. The Saints advance to the State Championship game against No. 2 Salpointe on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mesquite High School.
“I am super proud because it is a redemption moment,” said Head Coach Holly McLean. “The semifinal match is always the toughest of the tournament. Once you get through it you take a deep breath. But it is not over yet.”
The Saints, who lost in the 5A semifinals last year to Sunnyslope, won the 4A West Region with a 10-0 record and enter the state championship match with a 17-0 record. They are looking for the first state championship since 2015 and third in school history in volleyball.
Freshman Evan Hendrix led the team with 16 kills and 16 digs for a double-double. Junior McKenna Douglas added 13 digs and senior Denae Pitts notched 29 assists.

“McKenna is amazing,” said McLean. “Last year I was speechless. This year I am still at a loss for words with how she does what she does.”
