Girls Soccer Remains Undefeated After Key Region Win

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Notre Dame Prep girls soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over Flagstaff in a key 4A Region matchup at Bemis Field on Wednesday night.

The Saints (8-0) took the early lead in the ninth minute when Izzy de Avila connected off an assist by sophomore Annika Smith for a 1-0 lead. It was her 11th goal of the season. NDP pushed the lead to 2-0 when Smith had her turn off an assist from senior Elsa Davis. It was her seventh of the season

The Saints, who entered the day as the third-ranked team in 4A, moved into the Arizona Republic Super 10 at No. 9.

They extended their lead to 3-0 when junior Peyton Layne scored off an assist from de Avila for her seventh goal of the season.

Notre Dame Prep will host their Senior Night on Friday against St. Mary’s at 6 p.m. Pregame festivities will begin at 5:45 p.m.
