SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Arizona Interscholastic Association announced updated start dates for the Fall sports seasons after the latest Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday.

“We are excited to get the Saints back competing with their classmates and coaches,” said Athletics Director Mark Cisterna. “We will continue to follow all Diocesan, local and state health guidelines to ensure the safety of the students and staff.”

Golf and Spiritline will be starting on August 17 with cross country and swimming and diving starting on Aug. 24. Volleyball will start on Aug. 31 with competition beginning on Sept. 21. Football will begin practice on Sept. 7 with an 8-game schedule starting on the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 3 with an eight-game playoff tournament.

To participate in athletics at Notre Dame Preparatory, all student-athletes must register online in order to be cleared and approved before the first day of tryouts or practice.

Updated Notre Dame Prep fall sports tryout information and season schedules will be posted on NDPSaints.org and Athletics Department social media as soon as they updated.

NDP Families can complete their FamilyID Registration, provide an updated physical (see guidelines) and complete the Brainbook (First-Year Students) and the Opioid Education Course (New AIA Requirement).

Decisions on fan attendance and transportation protocols will be announced at a later date.

NDP Hockey will officially kick off on August 10, 2020 with a morning dry land training session and a team skate that afternoon.

Sports Recap Week of September 5, 2022

Volleyball:

The Varsity Volleyball team had a full slate of games last week - 2 non-league matches as well as a tournament. The Saints went 8-3 on the week, opening with a huge come from behind win over Verrado on Wednesday night. The Saints were down 0-2 to start the match but clawed their way back to force a 5th and deciding set. The Dog Pound was in full effect and helped push our NDP Saints to a 15-13 final set win! Over the weekend, the team went 6-3 at the Westwood Tournament of Champions and finished in 2nd place in the Silver Bracket. Junior Evan Hendrix ('24) fired her 1000th career high school kill for NDP. What a great achievement!

The JV volleyball Team went 2-0 on the week and the Frosh Team finished 1-1.

Football:

The Varsity Football Team opened their home campaign with a decisive 50-0 trouncing over visiting Ironwood. Junior Quarterback Noah Trigueros fired 5 touchdown passes with 280 passing yards. Sophomore Cooper Perry hauled in four touchdown receptions and 124 total receiving yards. Junior Reid Meyer ran for 58 yards and a TD as well. The JV Team lost a close one 14-24 to Desert Edge while the Freshman Team  beat visiting Ironwood 30-6.

Boys Golf

Boy's golf took down Desert Mountain on Tuesday with a score of 147-162. Freshman Landon Ashcroft fired a 33 to lead all golfers.

Swimming

Swimming had the week off.

Cheer/Pom

Cheer and Pom looked fantastic as they showed NDP Saints Spirit at the Varsity Football game last Thursday night. The halftime performance was great! Keep working hard, ladies - your first competitions will be here before you know it!

Hockey

The D1 Hockey Team opened their regular season and won twice over the weekend, beating Campo Verde 5-3 and Brophy 6-1. Junior, Cody Bjorndale tallied 4 goals and Senior, Tyler Posch scored five goals respectively. Shout out to the great crowd at the Brophy game on Sunday Night.

Go Saints!
