Notre Dame Prep’s track and field teams delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, as both the boys and girls squads captured team titles at the Desert Mountain State Qualifier.

Competing against Desert Mountain, Cactus Shadows, Centennial, and Fountain Hills, the Saints powered their way to victory behind an impressive 15 first-place finishes and a series of personal-best performances.

Senior Carlos Wallen led the boys with a standout day, winning the 100-meter dash in a lifetime best time and adding another first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Senior Henry Curran also shined, taking first in the javelin with a season-best throw.

Junior Quinton Moody had a huge meet in the throwing events, winning both the shot put and discus while setting lifetime best marks in each. Sophomore Connor Lampton sprinted to victory in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best performance, and junior Joseph Schmitz claimed first in the triple jump with a lifetime best leap.

On the girls side, senior Brooke DeGrenier raced to first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a lifetime best time. Sophomore Carly Townend won the 3200-meter run, while sophomore Sage Calvet soared to first in the high jump. Junior Mia Fischer added another event title for the Saints with a win in the triple jump.

The Notre Dame Prep girls were especially dominant in the relay events, sweeping all three relays. The boys 4x800 relay team also delivered a convincing first-place finish.

The Saints will look to carry that momentum into another busy weekend, competing Saturday at both the Hal Anders Invitational at Apollo High School and the Pinnacle Invitational before returning home next Wednesday for Senior Night, where NDP will host seven other schools.
