Saints Celebrated at Spring NDP Senior Athlete Signing Day

NDP's loss will soon be college sports' gain.

On Wednesday, April 2, the Saints hosted their second and final Signing Day of the school year, recognizing the senior student-athletes who have formally announced where they will take their athletic talents collegiately after graduation:

Jonah Battock            Tennis                 Ottawa University Arizona
Olivia Frankel             Basketball           Wingate University
Ashton Higgins           Baseball              Arizona State University
Ally Isgar*                   Swim & Dive       Washington University in St. Louis
Johana Krutzik           Track                   Hillsdale College
Dylan Lavinia             Football               Concordia College
Sammy Swords         Softball                Springfield College
Lily Zawaneh             Tennis                  University of Chicago

"It's special to be recognized by the whole school, "said Varsity Boys' Tennis' Jonah Battock. "It's something I didn't necessarily envision happening -- let alone playing in college. I just want to say thanks to everyone who came out today -- my family, coaches and our Athletic Director Mike Mahon."

Varsity Girls' Basketball's Olivia Frankel, who didn't play her senior season because of injury, was excited by the turnout as she prepares to relocate to North Carolina.

"I've been looking forward to this moment for a really long time, so I was really happy," said Frankel. "I had my NDP teammates here, and they're all family to me. With that kind of support, I was excited to just make it all official today."

Varsity Softball's Sammy Swords was also moved by the support of her Saints teammates in attendance.

"I just love all my teammates so much," said Swords. "They mean so much to me, and I'm gonna miss them so much, but I'm really glad that they came and made me feel so supported today."

Added Track & Field's Johana Krutzik, "Signing Day was a real full-circle moment for me. It made me realize that if I put my mind to something, I could really achieve my dreams and make them happen. NDP has been a great home for the last 4 years, but I'm excited to see what happens next."
