ESA-FAQs
ESA News
Q. When do apply?
A. Apply now, no matter what your status is. You MUST apply by Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. The ESA Programed was just approved by the AZ Secretary of State on 9/30/22.
Q: When will we be able to utilize ESA?
A: Once Governor Ducey signs the bill we would need to wait a 90-day period before ESA can come into effect if all goes to plan.
Q: Will I be able to accept STO money with ESA?
A: Unfortunately no, you will need to decide which route will provide you the most benefit, contact Cesar Lopez in the finance office to learn more. If you are receiving STO’s still apply as it is good for the government to have an application on file, we can decline funds though ESA if you prefer the STO route and vice versa. ESA does NOT stack with STO funds. Parents need to figure out which is more financially beneficial. (Will be on a case-by-case basis)
Q. How much can I expect to receive from my ESA award?
A. The average award is about $6,500 per student, but that can vary.
Q. How can learn more about the ESA Program?
A. IBE will host an online meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 to answer ESA questions and explain how the process works and what changes will be in store. Click here to view the flyer. ALSO, the Diocese of Phoenix is hosting a webinar with Sarah Raybon from the ESA Office at the AZ Department of Education, on Thursday, October 6, at 4 p.m. Please click here to register for the Diocesan webinar.
