Notre Dame Preparatory senior Ethan Lowe has been accepted into Arizona State University’s Next Generation Service Corps (NGSC), a highly selective leadership development program focused on public service, community engagement, and cross-sector collaboration.

NGSC is designed for students committed to addressing real-world challenges through leadership and service. While pursuing their chosen major at ASU, participants complete a specialized leadership curriculum, engage in experiential learning across public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and complete internships centered on community impact. Each student also develops a personal social mission that guides their work throughout the program.

Ethan’s acceptance reflects a long-standing commitment to service, leadership, and perseverance. A student in Theresa Smith's senior English class, he has consistently demonstrated responsibility and dedication in the classroom while maintaining strong academic performance.

Outside of academics, Ethan has accumulated more than 1,000 service hours during his time at NDP; far exceeding the school requirement. Much of this service comes from his role as a Leader in Training at the Boys & Girls Club, where he has spent multiple summers organizing athletic and arts activities for children, supporting staff, and helping create a positive environment for youth. He also volunteers with an avian rescue organization that assists injured and abandoned birds, and contributes regularly through the NDP swim team and Scouting programs.

As an Eagle Scout, Ethan led a significant service project at Pinnacle Peak Park, where he coordinated the construction of a new bridge. The project required planning materials, scheduling volunteers, and supervising a team of 12 scouts, providing him with meaningful leadership experience and logistical responsibility during both the school year and swim season.

Ethan has also been recognized for his service with both the Presidential Gold and Silver Service Awards.

A dedicated member of the NDP swim team, Ethan has shown steady growth and perseverance in the sport, advancing significantly throughout his high school career. His determination in athletics and service reflects a broader commitment to resilience and personal growth.

Throughout his time at NDP, Ethan has balanced academics, athletics, leadership, and extensive service. His ability to remain engaged and committed across these areas has been noted by faculty as a reflection of his discipline and focus.

Ethan will join NGSC with a strong foundation of service and leadership experience, and NDP congratulates him on this outstanding achievement!
