Even if you are unable to take a Christian service trip or study abroad, you can help others go. By donating to our Christian Service Learning Travel Fund or our Summer Experiential Learning Course, you will be contributing to God's work by helping those less fortunate through the students you sponsor. When students travel, their hearts and lives are changed forever.
"Last summer I met a boy named Jose, who really wanted to learn math and science," said NDP junior Cody Tabor who traveled to South San Francisco last summer to help at a camp for low income families. "I kind of saw myself in him. It changed my life because it made me realize all the privileges we have going to a Catholic school that he didn't have, but he was still putting in a ton of effort. It made me want to work harder in my own life."
We offer Christian service trips within the U.S., Tanzania, and Peru. NDP senior Lucy Lawler traveled to Tanzania to help at an orphanage there. "When we first got off the bus and were greeted by the kids singing, they were so happy to see us, that it was overwhelming," she said. "Despite the language barrier, we experienced a deep human connection with these kids all week."
Lawler changed her life goals as result of the trip. "After college I want to work for a non-profit organization and continue to help others my whole life," she said.
In addition to service trips, NDP is offering, for the first time, a Summer Experiential Learning Course in Italy. This trip is beneficial to all students but particularly those interested in art, art history and the history of the Catholic Church. This is a rigorous class condensed into two weeks of learning. Read all about it here.
"By all means, if it is possible to donate, please do. Because it could really change a student's life, plus tons of kids from other places who really need our help," Tabor said.
